Childhood Memory :)

I remembered watching this when I was little, the city really impressed me, and I guess the image has haunted me since. Doing research many, many years later allowed me to find a suitable reference, subsequently, here's my interpretation of the Martian city (ruins)...

Kudos to anyone who can identify which animated feature this came from.

I don't know where it's from, but it's definitely beautiful, if I may be so bland to say so.

It looks familiar, but I can't place it (and it's gonna drive me nuts til I figure it out).

It is very well done, and I'm slightly envious of your skill.

Goddammit, that'll teach me to read the rest of the thread before I click anything...I was hoping it would solve the mystery.

DO NOT CLICK ANY OF THE LINKS THAT YOKORA OR MERR HAVE POSTED!

They will upload a computer virus!

And the answer is Duck Dodgers (not the series based on the the Looney Tunes cartoons, but the actual Looney Tunes feature cartoons).

Nope but I think I have the answer..

The Picture shown is in fact from a 1965 Movie called Pinocchio in Outer Space.

Here's the Plot Synopsis of the Movie as I recall it.

Pinocchio was originally a boy, but when he gets into Mischief by lying, and stealing, and playing 'hookey' from school, he gets turned back into a wooden boy by the Blue Fairy. Pinocchio tries to become human again but on his way to school he meets an alien turtle by the name of Nertle.

Nurtle's mission is to go to the Planet Mars and find out the secret of a giant space whale by the name of Astro who has been indiscriminately attack both Earth and alien ships.

Once Pinocchio and Nertle discover that Astro is a Martian Whale that has been mutated by radiation, (as the Martians were going to use these animals for a zoo of some sort or to use them in an invasion of other planets. But before they can discover the full truth, a Martian Sandstorm engulfs the city and when the sand reaches the Nuclear reactors under the city, well it gets nuked as Pinocchio and Nertle escape barely in Nertle's small spaceship. As the pair are heading back to Earth so Pinocchio can tell the space agencies what Astro is. However enroute back to Earth (in Nertle's spaceship), they encounter Astro who swallows them

In the end, Pinocchio and Nertle are able to put Astro asleep but by doing so Astro is on a direct collision course with Earth! (and a whale that large would literally destroy half the planet)!

Pinocchio and Nertle escape from Astro's insides, and Pinocchio tries to save the whale (which he does, but at a terrible price, as he is nearly burned alive by Astro's nuclear powered whale blowhole).

But this story does have a happy ending.. By Saving Astro and the planet Earth from destruction, The Blue Fairy decides to turn Pinocchio back into a real boy..

So there you go folks.. the full 411 on this one..(and If I'm right, well score one for this coyote).

Now I'm wonder(ella)ing if Justin Pierce doesn't visit your blog, SFToon, given his newest strip. I mean, look at that thing.

(For anyone hesitant to click the link in this already-spammed thread thread: Google "Wonderella." It's a blast.)
